Progress Continues at Alumni/Active Clean-Up

The third alumni gathering of the summer took place on Saturday, August 11, 2007. In addition to completing the numerous House-related projects started earlier in the summer, attendees signed a petition to create an official Epsilon Sigma Alumni Chapter.
Alumni Luncheon a Huge Success

Alumni met at noon on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at the Fox and Hound English Pub to discuss plans to expand alumni involvement with the Chapter. During this second alumni meeting of the summer, M.L. Gough, Rhodes College Director of Student Activities, presented information on Greek Life at Rhodes, and Brother John Gehrig (ES 1062) provided alumni with an update on the Chapter's continuing progress.

On June 23-27, 2007, Brothers John Gehrig (ES 1062) and Derek Pegram (ES 1069) connected with Sigma Nu Brothers from around the country at Washington and Lee University, Lexington, VA. During the conference, brothers, along with staffers and alumni, toured Sigma Nu Fraternity Headquarters, VMI, and Washington and Lee University. [more]
Chapter Inaugurates Much-Anticipated Plans

At 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2007, the Chapter hosted the summer alumni interest meeting announced at the Brotherhood Fish Fry. Food from Central BBQ was provided by the Chapter for all attendees. M.L. Gough, Rhodes College Director of Student Activities, discussed new the administrative perspective on Greek Life, and John Gehrig (ES 1062) along with Commander Joe Doyle (ES 1061) and Rush Chairman Taylor Phelps (ES 1073) provided details of the Chapter's recent progress.
House of the Year Award -- 2nd Year

For the second consecutive year, Rhodes College IFC awards Sigma Nu the "House of the Year" distinction. Also awarded to Sigma Nu: Greek Week Champions (IFC). Commander Joe Doyle (ES 1061) accepted the awards on the Chapter's behalf. [more]
Fish Fry 2007 Attracts President of Rhodes

The Chapter held its first annual Brotherhood Fish Fry event on Saturday, April 21, 2007. Bill Troutt, President of Rhodes College, along with alumni, actives, family, and friends spent an afternoon of fun and fellowship at the Sigma Nu House while celebrating the Chapter's recent progress. [more]

Initial Phase of House Re-Landscaping Begins

The Chapter officially began the first phase of its plans for re-landscaping the Sigma Nu Fraternity House on Wednesday, March 28, 2007. Rhodes College Physical Plant workers arrived at the house promptly at 8:00 a.m. with chainsaws, stump grinders, and a large dump truck to remove the overgrown bushes surrounding the house. [more]
Chapter Competes in Strike-Out Philanthropy

On Saturday, March 24, 2007, Sigma Nu competed along with numerous other student organizations in Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority's annual Strike-Out Arthritis Softball Tournament. Funds raised by the competition were donated to the Tennessee Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. [more]
Branim Wins Mr. Shamrock Philanthropy

Luke Branim (ES 1076), representing Sigma Nu, defeated nine other fraternity and sorority delegates with his "contortionist act" last night at the annual Mr. Shamrock Philanthropy Contest hosted by Kappa Delta Sorority. Funds raised by the competition were donated to the Neruofibromatosis Association.
Spring 2007 Semester Chapter Report Released

The Spring 2007 Semester Chapter Report was mailed by the Chapter to all alumni with accurate addresses on file with the Rhodes College Alumni Relations Office. In addition to an update on the Chapter's progress, the report contains supplementary letters from Bud Richey (HZ 169, A 260), Rhodes College Associate Vice President and Director of Alumni Relations, Jamie Augustine (ES 801), a member of the Rhodes College Board of Trustees, and Tim Gibson (HS 358), Rhodes College Assistant Director of Admissions and Faculty Advisor of the Epsilon Sigma Chapter. Members Volunteer in Special Hearts Ball

The Special Hearts Ball is a free dance party for teens and young adults with disabilities in the Memphis community. On Saturday, March 3, 2007, Chapter members volunteered to help Rachel Goodwin, Kinney Coordinator for the Senior Services and Independent Living Service Area, with decorations and logistics for the Arabian Nights-themed dance later that night. The Chapter will hold its 1st Annual Brotherhood Fish Fry celebration on Saturday, April 21, 2007. The day's festivities will include a welcome address by Commander Joe Doyle (ES 1061), individual House tours by members of the Chapter, a banquet lunch, and a special Chapter Ritual portion for all Active and Alumni Brothers. Chapter to Repair Foyer Display Case

The Chapter recently voted to complete several House improvement projects over the Spring 2007 Semester. Two Brothers Elected to Rhodes IFC

In the Rhodes IFC Elections held on Thursday, January 18, 2007, Brother Alex Liu (ES 1063) won the IFC Presidency by a voting margin of 5 to 1, and Brother Matthew Carrington (ES 1071) ran uncontested for the IFC Treasurer position. Congratulations new Rhodes College IFC Officers!
